With the children at Hillside School

World Book Day - Hillside Community First School

11th March 2020

The second of three schools visited by Simon during the week of World Book Day was Hillside Community First School in Dorset. It was a bright and colourful day, despite the rain, largely thanks to all the children dressed as their favourite book characters. As well as reading stories, Simon shared the topic of litter from New Forest Friends & The Litterbugs. This was then taken further, depending on the age group, to become a drawing workshop using simple lines and shapes, or an exercise in creating their own litterbug creatures. Lots of smiling and enthusiastic children throughout the day to the extent that the book signing was very busy after school. We've also learned that many children were inspired to go away and create their own books over the weekend! A brilliant result to a great day.
