Simon Chadwick with some of the children from Blackfield Primary School

World Book Day - Blackfield Primary School

9th March 2020

World Book Day was stretched over three days for author and illustrator Simon Chadwick, with visits across schools in Hampshire and Dorset. He began the week at Blackfield Primary where the focus was on Simon's The Rubbish Monster Thing book. The book deals with the problem of waste and how we can prevent it, so the activities across the day were tailored to this. There was junk modeling, drawing rubbish monsters, looking at ways to reduce waste and, of course, Simon reading his stories to the children.

It was a busy day, with Simon managing to get around to seeing the whole school, and even fitted in a book signing.
